The Milk Mechanics Ethical Promise:

- We do not sell breastfeeding products, nor refer families for expensive products or therapies.

- We will never accept kickbacks from chiropractors, dentists, or therapists for referrals.

- We will not mislead mothers by suggesting that eating differently or buying special foods or drinks will increase milk supply, as this is not supported by science.

- All you need to breastfeed is your heart, hands, and baby.

- We will not body shame infants or parents, and will not provide false information not supported by science, such as claiming a baby has a lip tie or a mother has flat nipples.

- Instead of body shaming, we will engage in continuous professional learning to provide practical, joyful feeding solutions.

- We will follow the family's goals when designing a care plan.

- We will never lie to parents by telling them that holding their baby or having long breastfeeding sessions will prevent weight gain.

- We will not perform pre- and post-feeding weights in our clinic, as it is not evidence-based and may lead to quitting breastfeeding.

- We will use breastfeeding-based growth charts, not charts based on formula-fed babies.

- We do not allow formula samples or salespeople in our office, and will not accept gifts or promote artificial feeding products for babies.

- We will never suggest harmful procedures, such as cauterizing a baby's mouth with a laser or using fingers to manipulate oral wounds.

- We cater to families seeking minimally invasive, gentle lactation care and support that aligns with our philosophy.

- We strive to teach every family that every baby can breastfeed.

When our work is done, our goal is to move you toward answers, hope and a plan for progressing you closer to the health, milk supply and routine that will make feeding your baby a pleasure instead of a pain.

Real Success Stories

Suzanne's Story:

I desperately wanted to breastfeed my son. But I faced a perfect storm of challenges: post-breast reduction supply issues, extremely damaged nipples that wouldn't heal, and a mastitis scare, just to name a few. Three IBCLC's told me straight up to quit trying, to switch to formula, and that I'd never be able to build a full supply.

But then came Faith. She saved my breastfeeding relationship. She gave me: personalized daily goals; unlimited real time support via phone and text; in-person, hands-on support; a community of like-minded mommas in different stages of their breastfeeding journey; information about donor milk; and pumping strategies to increase supply and heal my nipples. With her help, I did build a full supply, and I nursed my son for more than two years.

Six years later, I had identical twins. Faith was there for me again, this time with NICU-specific support designed to get my babies home as quickly as possible, hour-by-hour goals for pumping and nursing, and critical moral support. Again, miraculously, with her guidance, I built a full supply for TWINS. Post-breast reduction. Twins. Crazy! She told me I could, and she was right.

Nancy's Story:

I am a business owner and a mother of three boys. My youngest son was born with Down syndrome. He spent 3 weeks in the NICU and when he got out I was desperate to get him to breastfeed. I met with several lactation consultants that couldn't help me or were too expensive before a friend told me about Faith.

When I spoke with Faith she told me that she offers support through her breastfeeding groups. She told me I could come for free to her group and if she thought she could help me I could pay one fee for unlimited support. This was amazing as most of the other lactation consultants I met or spoke to charge close to that for one visit. Faith was very kind to me and incredibly knowledgeable. She was confident that she could help me. For a flat fee she spent numerous hours over the phone with me and in person.

My son did successfully start breastfeeding exclusively and I couldn't have done it without Faith's help and support. I enjoyed attending Faith's breastfeeding groups for several months. She offers a weekly support group to mothers that have babies with medical issues and I have never seen Faith take money from anyone there. She is very passionate about helping women succeed in breastfeeding and meeting their goals. I recommend her services and groups to everyone I know that has a baby.

Teryn's Story:

I am a mother of identical triplets who spent 77 days each in the NICU. I breastfed them for 1 year thanks to Faith McGinn. She took the time to meet with me when I was pregnant and prepare me for what was ahead.

I had a number of lactation nurses and other nurses in the hospital tell me I wouldn't be able to breastfeed 3 babies. They gave me information that was false and tried to get me to just give the babies formula. Even our pediatrician is a certified lactation consultant and offered little to no help when it came to pumping and breastfeeding.

If it hadn't been for Faith and her dedication to encourage me, educate me, answer all of my questions, and even visit me in the hospital and at home, I never could have done it. Breastfeeding can be a complicated thing that too many women give up on too easily because they don't have the right support and the right information.

Faith told me when I was pregnant that people would tell me I couldn't do it. She also said to ignore them because I could and she would help me... and she did... and I did.
